John Stephens

John joined Pomona in 2011. He has over 25 years of private equity experience. At Pomona, John first led the firm’s efforts in Asia from its Hong Kong office and then in 2015 relocated to New York to his current role.  Prior to Pomona, John co-founded EMAlternatives, LLC, a fund-of-funds investing in Asia and emerging markets, and oversaw that firm’s operations, and financial reporting and administration. John also worked in advisory and investing roles focused on Asia and emerging markets, including with the Global Environment Fund.  He began his international career in 1990 at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow. John received an MBA from the Tuck School at Dartmouth College and a BA from the University of Washington.
